About The Ticket To Work Program
In the past, the Social Security Administration (SSA) provided free job retraining services for people with disabilities. The SSA wanted to encourage disabled people to get on their feet sooner rather than later. Today, the Ticket to Work program is designed to facilitate the same objective. The Ticket program helps recipients of Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) get help finding work, vocational rehabilitation and more. Employment networks providing these opportunities may be private organizations or government agencies that agree to collaborate with Social Security, offering employment services and support to people with disabilities.
To take part in the Ticket to Work program while receiving SSD or SSI benefits, you will select an employment network or state vocational rehabilitation agency to work with. During the time that you are working with a selected network or agency, the SSA will not review your medical condition as that agency normally does from time to time.
