As a driver, you should always do whatever it takes to obey the rules of the road. For example, you shouldn’t drive distracted, drink and drive or operate your vehicle in excess of the speed limit.

You should also become familiar with the many types of reckless driving. Not only will this knowledge change your approach to driving, but it can also help you avoid an accident with a negligent driver.

Here are some of the most common types of reckless driving:

  • Racing another vehicle on a public roadway
  • Driving in excess of 25 miles or more over the posted speed limit
  • Trying to evade a police officer when he or she is attempting to stop your vehicle
  • Illegally passing another vehicle on a two-lane highway

All of these offenses have one thing in common: They are extremely dangerous to both the driver and the other people on the road.

For example, if a person illegally attempts to pass a vehicle on a two-lane highway, it’s possible he or she could cause a head-on collision that results in serious injury or even death.

No matter how hard you try to follow the rules of the road, there will always be people who don’t care about doing so.

If you’re part of a motor vehicle accident, don’t wait to receive medical attention. Also, once you’re on the road to recovery, learn more about the cause of the accident. This may lead you to find that the other party was driving in a reckless manner, which led to the accident and caused your damages.
