Many conditions can cause an indoor slip and fall accident

As you’re walking indoors, you don’t expect anything to get in your way that could cause serious injury. However, this could happen when you least expect it.

There are many conditions that can cause an indoor slip and fall accident, including but not limited to:

— Lack of warning, such as a sign, to tell pedestrians that a floor is slippery or wet.

— Failing to provide barriers to keep people off floors that are not suitable for walking.

— Using an excessive amount of polish or wax, leading to a slippery surface.

— Treating one part of the floor but not the other, leading to a change in condition that can cause confusion.

— Flooring that is pulling up, such as carpeting that curls at the edges and acts as a tripping hazard.

These are the types of things that can lead to a slip and fall accident. All of these conditions can occur in almost any indoor area, including shopping malls, groceries stores and commercial buildings.

As a pedestrian, you should do your best to watch the ground in front of you. Of course, you know that this is not always possible.

If you’re involved in an indoor slip and fall accident, don’t attempt to move from the scene if you’re injured. Instead, call for help and wait for medical personnel to provide guidance on what to do next.

Once you begin to recover, you can review the details of the accident including who was at fault.

At some point, you may realize that you can file a lawsuit against the negligent party as a means of receiving compensation.
