When a man like Manuel Colorado dies while doing construction work on a scaffold, not only does his family suffer, but the entire city of New York suffers as well. Human lives, undocumented or not, are a precious resource, and New York must do a much, much better job at protecting the lives and health of all its workers, whether in construction and demolition, or in health care, or in waste management–every single worker deserves to be put way ahead of profit. It’s time to make our politicians and lawmakers PAY ATTENTION to the all-important issue of making all workplaces accident-free zones in 2016.
