El Centro Del Inmigrante reports that a vigil will be held on Saturday December 6 to honor the life of Delfino Velazquez Mendizabal, a man of family and God, who was killed in a Staten Island construction accident when he was doing demolition and a building roof collapsed, and he was buried under the construction rubble. This noble gentleman leaves behind a wife, three children, and three grandchildren.
In a senseless, unnecessary workplace accident, Delfino’s family was forever deprived of the love and comfort of this working man. We pray for Delfino’s family and for all New York’s construction and demolition workers subjected to unsafe work places, and we hope that this tragic accident will result in a criminal investigation and in government action for better protection for our working families.
