Psoriatic arthritis drug shows promise

A new prescription medication that is in the final phases of clinical trials has shown hope that people suffering from psoriatic arthritis may soon have a medication that could drastically reduce signs and symptoms of the debilitating disease.

According to a report on the latest findings of the clinical studies, many patients who took the drug, called apremilast, twice daily saw continuous improvement over 16 weeks and then more improvement in their signs and symptoms after 52 weeks. This could result in more patients finding relief from their arthritis pain and increased mobility from a disease that can sometimes result in a person being unable to perform essential tasks.

When a person suffers from a chronic, debilitating disease, they might be unable to work. On top of not being able to work, they might also have to buy expensive medications to help with their symptoms.

Applying for Social Security benefits might be able to help a person receive compensation to pay for their monthly expenses. While the average benefit might not be much, any amount of money can significantly ease the expenses a person with a chronic illness might face.

Sometimes the Social Security administration will deny a claim because of an administrative error, or they don't understand why the person is applying. An attorney can help a person in New York understand the Social Security process and help them with an initial application for benefits. If the person is denied benefits, they can file an appeal to ensure they get the benefits that they might badly need.
